Over the course of the last four days, five members of the department along with multiple members of the Greenville, Fairview, Yonkers, New Rochelle Fire Departments and members of Westchester County DES completed the New York State Rope Rescue Operations Course. The Training consisted of building on skills the members had already learned during Rescue Technician Basic. The Topics included repelling, raising, lowering, mechanical advantage, and patient packing to name a few. The course consisted of a significant amount of hands on training with a majority of the time spent working on rope off of the county's training tower. The Hartsdale members who completed the training now join a number of other members who have already completed the training thus greatly enhancing the Hartsdale Fire Departments capabilities to handle technical rope rescue operations.
