First Due Structure Fire On Hood Court

At 0604Hrs Hartsdale Fire Dispatch received a call from an alarm company reporting an activated residential fire alarm at 15 Hood Court. While still on the line with the alarm company contact was made with the resident by the alarm company who was now reporting a working fire. At 0605Hrs- HFD dispatched Car 2172, Engine 171, Engine 170, Tower Ladder 15 with an Engine from Fairview to 15 Hood Court to a reported structure fire. At 0605Hrs Car 2172 arrived reporting smoke from basement division of a 2.5 story type V raised ranch private dwelling, established Hood Court Command on the ā€œAā€ Side and requested a working fire assignment. Engine 171 arrived and teamed up with TL-15 to stretch a 1 3/4 inch attack line to the basement area and at 0608Hrs companies had water on the fire. Engine 171's chauffeur secured his own hydrant in the dead end of hood court. Engine 170 arrived and laid in from a secondary hydrant located at the corner of Hood Court and Keats Ave. Engine 170's chauffeur went to the "Cā€ side of the building to horizontally vent the windows of the fire rooms. At 0615 Attack 1 reported all visible fire was knocked down and that they would be performing hydraulic ventilation out the "C" side as they were checking for extension. As Fairview E-174 and Greenville Ladder 4 arrived, Fairview stretched a second line to mthe floor above while Greenville conducted primary searches on the floors above. Scarsdale Ladder 28 arrived and assumed the F.A.S.T. on the A-B corner after placing portable ladders on the "C" side. At 0618Hrs Car 2171 assumed command and Car 2172 assumed operations. Units operated with out incident overhauling and assisting C&O. All units went in service at 0836Hrs.
