On this Holiday, we wish you and your family a Happy, Healthy, and Safe Thanksgiving!

It is an honor and a privilege to serve this community.
With sincere gratitude, we take this time to express our thanks to our Hartsdale residents for their unwavering support and appreciation over the years.

Whether you have experienced our emergency or non-emergency services personally, or indirectly through observation, family, or friends, we thank you for relying on us when seconds matter and time is of the essence as your comprehensive professional Fire Department… Thank you!

Please take note of the following Do's and Don'ts during this Thanksgiving Holiday:

DON'TS:

Do not fry a turkey that is partially frozen or wet, thaw it completely and dry it inside and out.

Do not overfill the fryer with oil, mark your safe fill-line before adding oil.

Do not place the fryer on a wooden deck, under a structure, or near anything flammable.

Do not leave the fryer unattended and keep children and pets away

Do not use water to extinguish a grease or oil fire

DO'S

Ensure your fryer is on a level surface away from anything flammable

Use a high smoke-point oil (like peanut or canola) and monitor its temperature with a thermometer.

Slowly and carefully lower and lift the turkey in and out of the oil (with two people if possible) to reduce splashing.

Turn the fryer off when lowering.

Ensure your turkey is between 10-14 pounds, anything above can lead to overflow

Keep a fire extinguisher (rated for grease/oil fires) nearby and wear protective gear like long sleeves and insulated gloves.

Stay safe!
