HFD On-Duty Members found some time on a busy Saturday in between alarms and scheduled Apparatus and Equipment Checks to take some time for a Local Turkey Brigade Event that was occurring at Our Lady of Shkodra Church on West Hartsdale Avenue early this afternoon. Members assisted Anna Olivo, the Leader of the NYC Basket Brigade in loading boxes of Thanksgiving Meals (comprised of a frozen turkey, a box of stuffing, a can of cranberry sauce, a can of corn, sweet potatoes, potatoes, green beans, black beans, 2lbs of rice, 1lb of lentils, cake mix, corn bread, a gravy pack, and some apples and oranges) into delivery trucks enroute to Soup Kitchens, Family Residences, Shelters, and Schools in the New Rochelle, Bronx, and Manhattan areas.
Each box loaded feeds a family of 4-5 members.
HFD Members were happy to help and look forward to next year.
