After a 3.5-year hiatus due to the Covid Pandemic, the Hartsdale Fire Department's Promotions & Meritorious Awards Ceremony was back in full swing and regalia.

The esteemed event was well-orchestrated, highly spirited, and deeply inspirational as the members of the department were celebrated for their proven commitment, dedication, and professionalism to the job, and to the community they swore to serve.

The evening began with an address by the Chief of Department Ray Maseda and a Promotional Swearing-in of 2 Deputy Fire Chiefs and 2 Fire Captains. Followed by Badge and Shield Presentations to the 4 newest Firefighters of the Dept. who have just completed their 1-year probationary period.

The night reached its pinnacle with the recognition of the invaluable acts of courage, skills, and competencies, executed by the members of the HFD as their selfless actions led to life safety, incident stabilization, and property conservation for the residents and visitors of the Hartsdale Community during their time of need.

As a token of acknowledgment for the heroic actions made over the past 3 years, the following Medals and Certificates were awarded:
• (3) Class 4 Citations for a Rescue in a flooded residence.
• (21) Prehospital Life Save Awards.
• (22) Unit Citations for actions made during Hurricane Ida.
As the photography, hugs, and applause continued to resonate throughout the building, the evening concluded with the following acknowledgments:
• (1) Commissioners’ Award was given to a member of the department with Technological Proficiency for the Implementation of a Computerized Software Project.
• (1) Commissioners’ Award was given to a member of the department with Experience and Proficiency in the Apparatus Operator Education Project.

We want to thank the Board of Fire Commissioners, the Chief of Department, the Fire Officers, the Firefighters, and especially all our families and friends who attended and joined us on this memorable and wonderful evening.
