On Thursday June 23th, HFD was pleased to host Lieutenant Governor Antonio Delgado as he announced a $5 million US Department of Transportation grant award to the Town of Greenburgh. The Lieutenant Governor was joined by Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins, Assembly member Tom Abinanti, County Executive George Latimer, NYS Department of Transportation Commissioner Marie Therese Dominguez, and the Greenburgh Town Board to make the announcement. The grant funds the construction of pedestrian sidewalks along the entire length of West Hartsdale Avenue from Central Avenue to Dobbs Ferry Rd.
Our local residents are well aware of how dangerous walking along West Hartsdale Avenue is. This two-lane road has become a major thoroughfare over many years, and pedestrians are forced to walk through drainage ditches and narrow areas close to traffic while walking in the area. This sidewalk project will drastically improve the safety of pedestrians and encourage people to walk to the Hartsdale Village, Metro-North Train Station, and the Central Avenue corridor.
HFD was thrilled to host the grant announcement, and congratulate the Town of Greenburgh Board, Town Planning Commissioner Garrett Duquenes, and Greenburgh Police Sergeant Nick Reckson who worked extremely hard to secure the grant. Well done !
