Quick Response by Hartsdale Firefighters Halts Rapidly Advancing Flames

Firefighters encountered a well advanced fire upon arrival on Edgewood Road, Wednesday afternoon, March 20, 2020. Fire was showing from two sides of the single story residence and a 10-75 working fire was transmitted.

The Hartsdale Fire Department was notified at 2:35 pm and a staffed fire engine arrived on the scene in under four minutes. An aggressive interior attack was immediately launched by Hartsdale professional firefighters. First in crews encountered flames throughout and fought hard against rapidly advancing fire conditions. They extinguished the main body of fire in less than 20 minutes.

All four occupants escaped the house uninjured when Engine 169, Engine 171, TL-15 and Car 2172 arrived on the scene.

HFD was assisted on the scene by units from Fairview, Greenville, Scarsdale and the White Plains fire departments. The Yonkers and Elmsford Fire Departments relocated units to the Hartsdale Fire District to provide coverage. Greenburgh Police & EMS, along with Con Edison, also responded.

The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental.
