On September 29, 2019 members of the Hartsdale Fire Department along with other Greenburgh Uniformed Firefighters Assoc. members participated in the annual Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Run. Stephen Siller was a FDNY firefighter who on 9/11 was unable to drive to Ground Zero due to the congestion, so he grabbed his turnout gear and ran from his company quarters in Brooklyn, through the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel, to the Towers, where he was killed in the collapse. This run, a fundraiser for the Stephen Siller Foundation, commemorates his heroism and bravery by following his footsteps on that fateful day. Our members were joined in the run by our Chaplain, Rabbi Harry Pell from the Leffell School, and several of his family and friends.
