Hartsdale Chief Ed Rush and Fairview Chief Howie Reiss participated in a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math) Fair at the RJ Bailey School. 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students were shown how various jobs and industries use the STEAM disciplines in the work that they perform. Chiefs Rush and Reiss showed the students how the turnout gear is engineered to protect us in extreme temperatures, how the SCBA allows us to breath in IDLH atmospheres, and how Thermal Imaging Cameras allow us to "see" in smoke conditions. The students were particularly interested in the Thermal Imaging technology and really enjoyed leaving their warm hand prints on the wall and seeing them with the camera. Pictured with Chiefs Rush and Reiss is Greenburgh School Superintendent Dr. Tahira DuPree Chase wearing some turnout gear and an SCBA.
