The Hartsdale Fire Department, along with the Greenville and Fairview Fire Departments, as well as the Greenburgh Police Department, gathered at Richard Presser Park on Monday morning for the Town’s Annual 9/11 memorial.

This year’s event celebrated first responders and included the dedication of a new flagpole that honored 9/11 First Responders and was dedicated to Fairview Firefighter Robert Mentrasti who died earlier this year of cancer traced to the rescue effort.

Ryan DeStefano, a Boy Scout with Troop 67 in Hartsdale, coordinated the installation of the flagpole, landscaping and memorial plaque as his Eagle Scout project. During the ceremony the plaque was unveiled by Hartsdale Captain Tim Mentrasti and Firefighter Chris Mentrasti, nephews of Robert Mentrasti, and Greenburgh Police Sergeant Sean Hagan. What a beautiful tribute to Bubba! And all those we lost that horrific day.
