Just after 2100Hrs HFD dispatch received a call from a resident on Maple Street reporting a problem with their chimney. A full assignment was dispatched. Upon the arrival of Engine 170 a smoke condition was located inside the house with an active fire in the fire place. The crew quickly evacuated all occupants of the residence. Engine 170's chauffeur quickly stretched a precautionary handline to the front door and went to work securing a positve water source. Car 2172 arrived on scene, established command and requested an additional Engine from Greenville FD. Car 2172 requested TL-15 to position in the front of the building and place the bucket to the roof to inspect the chimney area. Members quickly extinguished the fire and checked for extension on all levels of the structure. Greenville Squad 15 arrived on location and was assigned as the F.A.S.Team. With the fire extinguished and no extension to the structure all units began ventilating the smoke from the structure. All units cleared the scene at 2149Hrs.
