The Hartsdale Fire Department Baby Sitting Class, currently in its 46th year, held a graduation ceremony for the current class at Station 2 on Thursday evening, October 4, 2018.

This year’s class had 14 students and, since its inception, the program has trained more than 1300 babysitters.

With an emphasis on safety and fire prevention, the course teaches students how to handle different emergency situations through classroom and actual hands on training. A new addition to the program this year was “stop the bleed’ which deals with severe hemorrhages and chest wounds resulting from active shooting events that have become more common in today’s society.
