A vintage bell, that was once attached to Hartsdale Ladder 47, has a new shine to it and was installed in front of Hartsdale Fire Headquarters, Station 2 on Tuesday, June 12, 2018.

When it was retired in 1995, Hartsdale Ladder 47, a 1947 American La France aerial truck, was the oldest, in service, ladder truck in Westchester County, serving Hartsdale for 48 years.

René Dupré, a 45-year member of the Hartsdale Volunteer Fire Company, recently had the bell restored at Victoria Plating in the Hunts Point section of the Bronx.

The refurbished bell was installed on a pedestal, which was donated by Guardsman Elevator in the Bronx. René, left, and his long time friend Skip Russell, a member of Mazeppa Engine Company No. 2 in Nyack, NY, attached the pedestal to the front of Station 2 and then mounted the bell on top.
