At 10:28 hrs on Wednesday 1/4/2018, Fairview FD requested one engine to respond to 19 Primrose Ave West, for smoke in the structure. Due to the heavy snow conditions, Car 2174 responded along with Engine 170, with a total of 5 members. On arrival, members checked-in with Command (Fairview Car 2121) and were given an assignment to Vent, Enter, Isolate and Search a window on the second floor. Once completed, members were given an assignment to perform vertical and horizontal ventilation. Members used saws and tools to cut 2 holes in the roof which allowed for any built up smoke and heat to escape. Members also removed the gable vent from the ends of the house. Car 2171 (Hartsdale FD Chief Rush) reported to the command post and assisted with supervisory functions. Following these functions HFD was released and returned to Hartsdale.
