4/8/17 Working Fire 14 Rockledge Rd

On Saturday April 8, 2017 at 1900 hours Hartsdale fire district was notified through Westchester County 60 Control of a reported unknown type fire in 14 Rockledge rd Apartment 2B. Hartsdale dispatcher immediately dispatched Car 2172, E-169, E-171, Fairview Fire District L-1,Greenville Fire District SQ-15 and Scarsdale Fire Department L-28 Firefighter Assist and Safety Team (F.A.S.T). At 1902 hours Car 2172 and E-169 arrived on scene and began to investigate. Car 2172 was met outside of the residence by the resident of the fire apartment as well as the neighboring apartments residence. They advised that there was a fire in the back bedroom of the second floor apartment and everyone was out of the building and accounted for. Car 2172 immediately called for a hose line to be stretched and prepare for a working fire inside the residence. The E-169 Bravo (B) and Charlie(C) positions began to stretch 300 ft of 2inch hose to the front of the building while the E-169 Captain made it to the apartment to recon the area for the best way to attack the fire. Simultaneously Car 2172 requested a 10-75 working fire assignment and E-171 arrived on scene. The E-171 B position obtained a positive water source from the nearby fire hydrant and the E-171 A and C position grabbed hand tools to search for fire extension. As the E-171 crews made it to the front door, E-169 C was flow testing the hose line and proceeded into the fire apartment and began to put the fire out. At 1908 hours SQ-15 and L-1 arrived on scene. SQ-15 crew was sent to the roof to check if the fire had communicated with any roof structures. By this time, the main body of fire had been knocked down, and overhaul of the fire room began. Crews from White Plains TL-6 and Fairview E-175 arrived on scene and assisted all other units in overhaul and salvage. Shortly after 1930 hours the situation was placed under control and units began to pick up. All members performed diligently and as a team successfully mitigating the emergency and rapidly putting the fire out.
