Serious Accident on the Sprain Brook Parkway

At just after 4am on Friday, February 27, 2015, Hartsdale, Fairview, Greenville Fire Departments and Greenburgh Police EMS were dispatched to the Sprain Brook Parkway south bound for a motor vehicle accident with reported extrication. Car 2172 and Engine 169 were assigned along with other mutual aid units. On arrival units established a safe area, provided scene lighting and went to work stabilizing the vehicles involved. Unfortunately EMS was able to identify one patient was deceased and all units were able to operate to extricate the patient trapped in the other vehicle. Fire department members had precatuionary handlines stretched while utilizing hydraulic extrication tools to remove the trapped patient. Members also utilized thermal imagining cameras to check the sourrounding area to confirm that there were no other victims. The parkway remained closed to approximately 11am.
